GENERAL SURGERY

Introduction:

  • The Surgical Directorate has to handle a very heavy patient workload which involves dealing with road traffic accident, trauma and other emergencies apart from the usual elective surgical cases. The department also prides itself on having a fine record for post graduate surgical training as laid down by the Saudi Council for Health Specialities regulations and by-law. The values of the Surgical Directorate are to trust, empowerment and teamwork. We believe in effectiveness through efficiency and hope that all new members of the department will soon feel well integrated into this family atmosphere.

Mission Statement:

  • To achieve a high standard of health care to all the military and civilian staff of Ministry Of Defense and their families during war and peace time. The impetus for achieving our Mission Statement will be through applying Total Quality Management and staff development and training. The Department of Surgery is committed to excellence, innovation and leadership in meeting the healthcare needs of the people we serve and fostering the very best training, surgical education and clinical research.

Objectives:

  • To give a good services not only to the patients, but generally to our hospital. To maintain the belief, joint effort, and set a good example to others especially to the Residents and Intern doctors.

Future Situation and Plan:

  • With the new extension, we would like to expand the General Surgery Department and concentrate on the various divisions e.g.
  • Hepatobiliary Division
  • Colorectal Division
  • Endocrine Division
  • Thoracic Surgery Division
  • Oncology Division
  • Trauma Division
  • Advance Laparoscopy Centre
  • These divisions will be supported by the new Oncology Centre so transfer of patient for Higher Centre will be very limited or rare. For other sub-speciality like Plastic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Paediatric Surgery and Neurosurgery, we need to increase their staff in order for them to become independent.
